At Reggio Digital, we prioritize transparency so you know exactly what to expect from our hosting services. Below is an overview of our technology stack and key platform considerations.

PHP Versions

We support PHP versions 8.1, 8.2, and 8.3 for all new sites. We can easily switch between these versions. Please reach out to us via support@reggiodigital.com if you'd like us to change the version.

Unsupported Extensions

Reggio Digital does not support or install the ionCube or ZendGuard Loader extensions. Additionally, Imagick is not supported.

Firewall Configurations

Inbound Traffic:
Our sites accept traffic over TCP ports 80 and 443, with file uploads via TCP port 22 (SFTP). Custom firewall rules are not supported.

Outbound Traffic:
We allow outbound traffic through the following ports:

  • SMTP: TCP ports 465, 587
  • POP3: TCP ports 110, 995
  • IMAP: TCP ports 143, 993
  • HTTP/HTTPS: TCP ports 80, 443

All other outbound traffic is blocked and logged.

Database Access

Each Reggio Digital site comes with a pre-configured database. We do not support additional databases, connecting to external databases, or allowing external access to site databases.

Video Streaming

We do not provide transcoding or streaming support for video files uploaded to your site’s Media Library. We recommend using platforms like YouTube or Vimeo for these purposes.

Expiry Headers and .htaccess Files

Our platform uses NGINX and PHP-FPM, so .htaccess files are not applicable. Expiry headers are not set by default, but enabling our CDN will activate server-side caching and set expiry headers for all static resources on your live site.

NGINX Configuration

We manage the NGINX configuration for all sites hosted on Reggio Digital. Customizing these configurations is not supported. For adding redirects, we suggest using the Safe Redirect Manager plugin.

Compression

We enable Brotli compression by default. If a browser doesn’t support Brotli, GZIP is used as a fallback. These compression methods optimize your site’s CSS, HTML, and JavaScript files, but do not compress images.

Email Rate Limiting

Each site is limited to sending 200 transactional emails per hour.

SFTP Access

Due to our platform’s structure, you won’t be able to create or modify “Managed WordPress” or “Managed Themes & Plugins” files via SFTP.

Managed WordPress

We handle all updates to WordPress core files, ensuring your site runs the latest stable release. While you cannot directly modify core files, we maintain a secure environment with a dedicated Reggio Digital user added for support.

Managed Themes & Plugins

We pre-install and manage essential plugins like Akismet, Jetpack, and Jetpack Protect. For some sites, we also manage WooCommerce. The Twenty Twenty-Four theme is pre-installed, and Storefront may be included for WooCommerce sites. We also offer an Edge Cache option for improved site performance.

WordPress Multisite

We support WordPress multisite with path-based networks. However, domain-based networks are not supported.

Non-WordPress Applications

While our platform is optimized for WordPress, you can run non-WordPress applications at your own risk. If these applications cause resource strain, we may request their removal.
