Staying on Top of Your Site's Software

Plugins and themes are what make WordPress powerful, but they need regular attention. Outdated software can cause compatibility problems, slow things down, or open security holes.

Viewing Installed Plugins and Themes

From your site's Plugins & Themes tab, you'll see every plugin and theme installed, active or not. For each one, we show:

• Name and version: what's currently installed
• Status: whether it's active or inactive
• Update available: a flag if there's a newer version

At the top of the page you'll also see your WordPress version, how many plugins are active, your active theme, and how many updates are waiting.

Checking for Updates

We automatically scan your plugins and themes and flag anything out of date or with a known security issue, right on this page.

Making Updates

To install, update or activate a plugin or theme, log into your WordPress admin. Changes there sync back to your dashboard automatically, so this page always reflects what's really on your site.

Our Recommendation

We suggest keeping plugins and themes updated regularly, ideally within a week of a new version being released. If you're nervous about breaking something, test the update on a staging site first.
