Sender Details, Postal Address and Brand
Set the name your subscribers see, where their replies go, the postal address in your footer, and your logo and color.
Before your first newsletter goes out, tell us who it is from, where replies should land, and the postal address for the bottom of every email. Adding your logo and color is optional, but it makes your emails look like yours. All of it lives in Newsletter → Settings, on the General and Brand tabs, and takes a few minutes.
Each list keeps its own details. If you have more than one list, pick the one you want from the menu at the top of the page first.
The General tab
The list
- List name: what you call this list.
- What this list is for: a short description of the list.
- Time zone: sends are scheduled in this time zone, so a Tuesday 9am send goes out at 9am where you are. Type it the standard way, like
America/Chicago.
Who it comes from
- From name: the name your subscribers see in their inbox. Your business name is usually right, and we start it with your account name.
- Send from: type the part before the @ (like
newsorhello) and it sends from your newsletter address, likenews@e.yourbusiness.com. Only verified addresses are offered, so an address still waiting on its records appears here once it is verified. If you see Set up your newsletter address first instead, press Go to Plan & sending and follow Your Newsletter Address. - Replies go to: the email address where replies from your subscribers should land. Use an inbox someone actually reads, like the one you use for customer email every day.
Bottom of every email
- Postal address: the law requires a real postal address in every marketing email, so it goes in the footer of everything this list sends. We start it from your billing details. Change it to whatever you want your customers to see.
Press Save when you are done.
The Brand tab
- Logo: goes at the top of every email this list sends, and on your signup page, the confirmation page and the page where people choose what they get. Upload a PNG, JPG or WebP file up to 10 MB. Any size is fine, we resize it. It shows about 160 pixels wide, so a wide logo on a plain or transparent background works best. Until you add one, your name shows in text instead. To take it off, press Remove logo.
- Color: used for buttons and links in your emails and on those same pages. Pick it with the color swatch, or paste your brand color as a six-character code like
#2a3a68. Leave it empty to keep the standard blue.
Press Save to keep your changes.
The quick way: the setup checklist
On Newsletter → Overview, the Set up your newsletter checklist has steps for your sender, reply address, mailing address and brand color. Press Set up (or Edit, once a step is done) on any of them to open a Sender and brand details window. It holds the same details in one place: List name, Sender name, Sender email, Reply-to email, Mailing address, Brand color and Time zone. Press Save details and the checklist ticks them off.
Sender email works the same way as Send from: type the part before the @, and it uses your verified newsletter address. Mailing address is required, because nothing sends without one. Your logo is added from the Brand tab, which the Add your logo step opens for you.
"This list cannot send yet"
If something your list needs is missing, a box saying This list cannot send yet appears at the top of the settings page, listing what to fix:
- This list needs a postal address before it can send. Add one under Postal address on the General tab.
- This list needs a verified sending address. Choose your newsletter address under Send from on the General tab. If it is still showing Waiting on DNS, see Setting Up Your Sending Domain.
The same reminders show on your newsletter Overview with a Fix it button that brings you straight here.
Check it before you send
The easiest way to see how your name, logo, color and footer look is to send yourself a test. See Writing and Sending a Campaign. If anything looks off, open a ticket and a real person will help you sort it out.
