Your Newsletter Address

Your newsletter sends from its own address on your domain, like e.yourbusiness.com. Here is how it is set up and how to change it.

Your newsletter sends from its own address on your own domain, like e.yourbusiness.com. Your subscribers see an address such as news@e.yourbusiness.com in their inbox, so the email is clearly from you.

It is kept separate from the email your website sends, like receipts and password resets. That way a newsletter never affects whether your receipts arrive. It is also verified on its own, so you do not need a sending domain for your site's email to use it.

Where to find it

Go to Newsletter → Settings and open the Plan & sending tab. Your address is under Your newsletter address, with a badge showing where it is:

  • Waiting on DNS: the records that prove the address is yours are not in place yet.
  • Verified: it is ready to send.
  • Paused: sending from it has stopped. Open a ticket and we will explain why and what happens next.

Often it is already done

When you turn on the newsletter and there is only one domain we know is yours (from your website, your sending domain, or your domain settings with us), we create e.yourdomain.com for you straight away. If your domain's settings (its DNS) are with Reggio, we add the records too, so there is nothing for you to do. It usually shows Verified within a few minutes.

Setting it up yourself

If you have more than one domain, which one your newsletter speaks for is your choice, so we wait for you.

  1. Go to Newsletter → Settings → Plan & sending.
  2. Under Send your newsletter from, we fill in a suggestion like e.yourbusiness.com. If you have several sites, tap the one you want from the buttons above the box.
  3. Press Set it up.
  4. A window opens with the records to add. If your domain's settings are with us, we have added them already.

There are four records to add for your newsletter address: one that signs your messages, two for bounced mail (at bounce.e.yourbusiness.com), and one on e.yourbusiness.com itself. Setting Up Your Sending Domain explains how to add them and what each label means. To see them again later, press DNS records beside your address. Press Check now after adding them, and we keep checking automatically after that. If the address is still not verified two weeks after it was set up, we free it up, and the page tells you the date. You can set it up again at any time.

Picking a different name

e. is only our suggestion. You can use any subdomain of a domain you own, like news.yourbusiness.com. A few names are not allowed, and the page tells you why:

  • Your main domain on its own, like yourbusiness.com. Sending a newsletter from it can get in the way of the email you and your team use every day, so use a name in front of it.
  • Names we already use for your site's email: email, rd, send and bounce.
  • A name that is already set up as a sending domain.
  • A name something else already uses, like a website or another email service. We cannot add records there without breaking it, so pick a different one.

Changing your address

Until your newsletter has sent its first email, you can press Change beside the address, type a new name and press Save. Your lists move to the new address with you. The new name needs its own records added before it can send, and the records window opens so you can do that.

Once your newsletter has sent from an address, the Change button goes away and the address stays put. Mail providers judge a sender by its track record, and that record belongs to the address your list has been receiving from. If you really need it changed, get in touch and we will talk it through.

That track record is also why a brand new address sends in stages for its first few weeks, while mailbox providers get to know it. If your list is bigger than a new address can send in one day, everyone still gets the email: the rest go out over the next few days, and the report for that send shows how many have gone so far. There is nothing you need to do.

Choosing it as your sender

Once the address exists, pick it as the Send from address for your list. See Sender Details, Postal Address and Brand.

If your plan's newsletter addresses are all in use, the setup box no longer appears. Change the one you have, or get in touch if you need another. If you do not see the setup box at all, ask whoever manages the newsletter on your account.
