Setting Up Your Transactional Sending Domain
Verify the domain your receipts and notifications send from, and resolve missing DNS records.
Your sending domain is the part after the @ in your outgoing address.
- Open Sending domains, also available from the email workspace.
- Under Add a sending domain, choose a suggested website or enter the domain you want to use.
- Click Add domain. Follow the setup prompts, then open DNS records.
- Add the records shown at the service that manages your domain's DNS. If someone else manages it, give them that list.
- Click Check now after the records are in place. You can also leave the page and let verification run automatically.
- Wait for the domain to show Verified before connecting your app.
If you already use your main domain for personal or staff mailboxes, the setup may suggest a separate sending subdomain, such as rd.example.com. This keeps your website's sending reputation separate from your ordinary mailbox. Your outgoing address would then be something like orders@rd.example.com.
Copy the exact record names and values shown for your domain. Not found yet means the record has not been detected. We added it, still spreading means it has been added but is not visible everywhere yet. If the page says Edit your existing record, update that record instead of creating a duplicate.
Needs attention means a required DNS record has gone missing. Reopen DNS records and restore it. Not verified means verification did not complete; correct the missing records and use Check now.
Newsletter has its own sending address, configured in Newsletter settings.
If you cannot add another domain
The page shows the number of sending domains your plan includes. If you have used them all, contact support to discuss another domain. If the button is unavailable, ask a company member with permission to manage email.
After verification
Use Connect an app on the domain for SMTP settings, or connect your developer's application with an API key. The From address must use your verified sending domain.
