Getting Started with Transactional Email

Follow the setup checklist, from choosing a sending domain to checking your first message.

Set up Transactional Email once, then let your website or application send its everyday messages from your own address.

Before you begin

Have access to your Reggio Digital account, the DNS settings for a domain you own, and the person who maintains your website or application. Select the right company if you belong to more than one.

Open Transactional email. If the page shows See the plans or example data, review the available plans with the person who manages billing.

Set it up, step by step

  1. Verify a sending domain. Open Sending domains, add your domain, and follow its DNS instructions. Wait for Verified. Domain setup guide.
  2. Connect your software. If it asks for a mail server and password, use SMTP setup. If a developer is integrating your app, use Connected apps and API keys.
  3. Prepare your message. Your software can supply its own content, or your developer can use a published email template.
  4. Send a test. Use your software's test-email feature or ask your developer to send a test to an inbox you control.
  5. Check delivery. Open Sent email, search for the test, and read its status. Check the receiving inbox too. Delivery guide.
  6. Review usage. Check the allowance and cap on the overview. Usage and caps.

After setup

Your website or app decides when a receipt, reset or notification is needed. Reggio handles sending and records what happened. Publishing a template or verifying a domain does not send a message by itself.

Receiving replies in the dashboard is a separate setup step. Follow Receiving and Replying to Email if you want to use it.

If the first message does not arrive

Use Finding a Missing Email. Start with the sent log and domain status, then check the app's connection. If you need us, include the recipient, subject and approximate send time in a support ticket, without passwords or API keys.
